Found objects operate as epistemic tools: their residual functions, industrial histories, and material instabilities actively shape inquiry. By allowing objects to misbehave—to fail, overperform, or resist use—I investigate dominant logics of efficiency, productivity, and utility, positioning dysfunction as a deliberate anti-capitalist methodological gesture (Loveless, 2018; Haraway, 2016). Scholastic interventions and performative objects enable engagement with audiences, testing relational and affective capacities of hybrid objects in social contexts (Moten & Harney, 2013; Lacy, 2010).
